Medical alert work is among the most specialized forms of service dog training and requires highly individualized development based on the handler’s specific medical needs, lifestyle, and alert requirements. While medical alerts can be combined with tasks and training from any of our other service dog programs, each alert specialty is presented separately to provide a more detailed overview of the unique training, standards, and considerations involved.
Currently, gluten detection programming is available. Cardiac alert, diabetic alert, and seizure alert programming are in development and are expected to be available in 2027.
